A new group of members from Local 1809 spent some time recently diving into the details of being a member of their Local, their Regional Council, the UBC Southern District, and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America.
Led by Florida Regional Council and Florida Training staff members, the new member orientation covered topics including the goals of the Local and Council, and the history and heritage of the UBC. Presenters also stressed the importance of being active union members of Local 1809.
“Our new brothers and sisters had great questions about work, apprenticeship, and fringe benefits, said South Florida Council Representative Alex Jiron. “It was great to see their excitement about becoming an informed, active and contributing union member.”
