South Florida Teens Team with Florida Carpenters to Build Park Benches and Learn About the Trade

Helping develop the next generation of professional carpenters is a primary goal of the Florida Carpenters and its partnering Training Program. We believe we did just that by working side-by-side with a group of energetic and enthusiastic youngsters from the Boys & Girls Club of St. Lucie County for a Workforce Readiness project.

These teenagers worked with members of the South Florida Carpenters Training Program and Local 1809 to build three park benches from scratch! The plan is to donate them to the Veterans Nursing Home located in St. Lucie County. Here’s a great video about the project: https://youtu.be/YtU3I_ZllMU

The Boys & Girls Club of St. Lucie County is dedicated to helping South Florida youth develop professionally in all areas, including the skilled trades. The partnership with the Florida Carpenters is a key asset to making this happen.
