The work of pile drivers from Local 1809 got well-deserved attention recently when the city of Fort Lauderdale hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate completion of the Hendricks Isle Seawall Replacement Project. Our members worked for Ebsary Foundation Company on the project to replace 320 linear feet of City-owned seawalls along the northern end of Hendricks Isle.
Did you know that, due to climate change and rising tides, Fort Lauderdale has about 200 miles of seawall in need of raising? The goal is to have the walls raised by 2050. The improvements made as part of this project will help reduce tidal flooding along Hendricks Isle, and allow the city to be better prepared for future king tide events and sea level rise.
The Florida Carpenters Regional Council is currently looking for men and women who have what it takes to be a professional pile driver. Take a look at what we do: https://www.flcrc.org/pile-driving/ and then join us! https://www.flcrc.org/join-us/
