It was a packed agenda that the Florida Regional Council of Carpenters leadership tackled at its quarterly Delegate Conference and Council meeting on August 5th.
DVP Engels spoke to Delegates and Staff
Delegates, Executive Board members, and Council staff teamed to address critical topics such as member recruitment and retention, Council finances, training, industry relations, and more.
In addition, the group hosted two VIP guests - newly appointed UBC Southern District Vice President Jason Engels and Simon Blank of the Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Investigative & Forensic Services - as well as representatives of the UBC's Job Corps program.
DVP Engels also conducted the swearing-in of Delegates
District Vice President Engels spoke about his vision for the Southern District and Florida’s crucial role in the continued capturing of market share for the UBC. He also led the swearing-in process for Council Delegates.
Mr. Blank spoke about his agency’s fight against worker compensation fraud in the state and its impact on construction workers.
Job Corps' Aleyda Rodriguez and Louis Sanchez
He discussed how unscrupulous contractors avoid or underreport their needs in order to save costs and underbid responsible contractors.
