Florida Power & Lights Gets Hurricane Cleanup Help from Union Carpenters

When Hurricane Sally rolled through Pensacola, Florida, it left a lot of damage to power lines, leaving millions in the dark. Florida Power & Light turned to the Florida carpenters union for help. Our members from Locals 1809, 1905, and 702 got to Pensacola in record time to start repairs. They were helped by neighboring union carpenters from Alabama Local 318 of the Southeastern Regional Council.

Union crews made temporary repairs to the homes of FPL employees while they were trying to restore power. Many thanks to Florida Council Reps Joseph Stevens and Frank D’Angelo for getting the logistics in order for this fast-response project. Well done, everyone.
